Thailand is launching a Thailand digital asset tourism scheme to allow foreign visitors to convert cryptocurrencies into baht for nationwide spending. The TouristDigiPay pilot, beginning in Q4 2025 as a sandbox, is expected to increase tourist spending by 10%, or THB175bn (USD4.9bn). Visitors will convert digital assets through licensed providers into e-wallets usable at small shops and large retailers. Spending caps will apply—THB50,000 per month for small merchants and THB500,000 for those completing Know Your Merchant checks. Tourists must undergo KYC verification. Regulators said Thailand digital asset tourism efforts could make the country the first worldwide to implement such a system nationally.
