Taiwan’s National Development Council has a new minister, Yeh Chun-hsien, who said artificial intelligence will be central to Taiwan’s 2025–2028 National Development Plan. Yeh, succeeding Paul Liu, said the plan will drive an innovation-led economy, balanced regional growth, governance improvements, and talent development. He announced 10 new AI infrastructure projects and reaffirmed support for the NT$10bn (USD312m) industrial transformation fund. The council will also promote Taiwan’s “five trusted industries”: semiconductors, AI, defence, security and surveillance, and next-generation communications. Workforce programs will be bolstered under National Talent Competitiveness Program 2.0 to attract international talent and strengthen global competitiveness.
