Taiwan Asset Management Centre Plans Advance with Family Office Focus

The Taiwan asset management centre initiative is moving forward as the government seeks to attract international capital while directing more domestic wealth towards local industries.
President Lai Ching-te said Taiwan would continue easing financial regulations to give institutions greater scope to develop asset management operations and strengthen cross-border financial services.
The initiative builds on a pilot asset management zone in Kaohsiung and includes areas such as family offices and innovative financial products.
Measures that prove successful could subsequently be expanded nationwide.
Taiwan’s Financial Supervisory Commission is also drafting special legislation intended to provide a stable legal framework for financial markets and the asset management industry.
The broader strategy seeks to retain more Taiwanese capital domestically while attracting overseas investment and financial talent.
Taiwan’s stock exchange said the initiative forms part of efforts to develop the island into a more important regional centre for asset and wealth management.
