Malaysia Digital Trust Strategy to Align with ASEAN Framework

Malaysia digital trust strategy for 2026-2030 will be implemented alongside the creation of an independent Data Commission to strengthen governance, cyber resilience and public trust. Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo said the strategy will provide a long-term roadmap to protect data integrity and counter emerging threats, while the commission will oversee ethical AI use and robust data governance. Designed for interoperability across ASEAN, the framework will align with initiatives such as the ASEAN Guide on AI Governance and Ethics and the ASEAN Cybersecurity Cooperation Strategy, aiming to secure Malaysia’s digital ecosystems while contributing to regional harmonisation.
