Kaohsiung Family Offices Strengthen Taiwan's Wealth Management Ambitions

Kaohsiung family offices are playing an increasingly important role in Taiwan's ambition to become a leading Asian asset management centre, with banks in the city's financial zone now advising 189 family offices.
The Financial Supervisory Commission said these family offices oversee NTD91.5bn (USD2.8bn) in assets.
During the zone's first year, 57 financial institutions, including banks, insurers and investment firms, established operations.
Banks are also serving 427 wealth management clients with NTD5bn in investment balances, while asset managers have launched 16 offshore funds holding NTD3.9bn.
Established in 2024, the Kaohsiung financial zone supports family offices, cross-border finance and wider asset management initiatives under President Lai Ching-te's financial sector strategy.
The regulator is also examining dedicated legislation to strengthen the legal framework and support the sustainable long-term development of Taiwan's wealth management industry.
