Hong Kong’s Office for Attracting Strategic Enterprises has secured commitments from 124 companies across six batches, with total planned investment reaching HKD73bn (USD9.3bn) and the potential creation of 25,000 jobs.
The Hong Kong strategic enterprises programme has become a key pillar of the city’s efforts to attract high-value industries, technology firms and innovation-driven businesses.
Bryan Peng, executive director of OASES, said the first five batches had already exceeded initial targets, generating HKD22.5bn in actual investment and creating around 8,000 jobs.
Among the 124 firms participating in the Hong Kong strategic enterprises initiative, 52% are listed companies, 18% are preparing for IPOs, 73% have established regional or global headquarters and 87% have set up research and development centres in the city.
The latest batch includes a higher proportion of overseas firms. Participants include AI company MiniMax, new-energy materials producer Tianqi Lithium and Shanghai Sunmi Technology, which plans to invest HKD200m to HKD300m over three years.
The figures highlight Hong Kong’s continuing success in attracting innovation-led investment and strengthening its position as a regional technology and business hub.
