Hong Kong Remains Asia’s Leading Billionaire Hub

Hong Kong billionaire hub status remains firmly established after the city retained its position as the world’s second-largest billionaire centre in 2025, according to Altrata’s Billionaire Census 2026.

Hong Kong had 106 billionaires, two fewer than a year earlier, but their combined wealth continued rising to USD319bn.

Property-sector weakness and relatively limited exposure to artificial intelligence-related gains weighed on the city’s billionaire population.

New York remained the world’s largest billionaire city with 164 individuals, an increase of 12.

Globally, the billionaire population grew 8.2% to a record 3,795, while combined wealth increased 12.8% to USD15.1tr.

Altrata expects USD6.6tr to transfer to billionaires’ spouses and children over the next decade, creating significant succession, governance, estate-planning and investment-management requirements for family offices and advisers across the global wealth industry.
