Hong Kong finance talent is returning as stronger capital markets, recovering initial public offerings and increased investment activity revive hiring across financial services.
Robert Walters Hong Kong Managing Director John Mullally said interest from overseas candidates has improved significantly from pandemic-era levels, with recruitment rising moderately during the past six to 12 months.
Hong Kong's stronger equity market and IPO recovery have supported demand for professionals across investment banking and asset management. Industry executives also reported that some funds and investment managers were establishing or expanding local operations.
The movement of financial professionals towards Singapore seen during the pandemic has also slowed as employment opportunities in Hong Kong improve.
The city had 10,007 responsible officers working at licensed corporations, an increase of 254 from a year earlier, providing another indication of recovery in its financial services workforce and investment industry.
