Hong Kong AI financial planning is becoming increasingly accepted by banking customers, although users continue to demand human oversight and strong protection of personal information, according to the Hong Kong Institute of Bankers.

An HKIB survey of 400 people found more than 60% use AI daily or weekly, while half have already used artificial intelligence tools for financial planning.

However, customers continue to place importance on human involvement. About 48% said access to human review or assistance was important when banks deploy AI, while 44% highlighted protection of personal data.

Interest in digital financial assets was particularly evident among younger customers.

More than 40% of respondents aged 18 to 34 said they would consider regulated stablecoins or tokenised financial products if greater education and regulated access were available.

The findings were presented at HKIB’s Annual Banking Conference 2026.
