HKMA Prepares Third Batch of Tokenized Bonds to Expand Green Finance

The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) tokenized bonds programme will become a regular issuance, Financial Services and Treasury Secretary Christopher Hui told lawmakers. He said Hong Kong has issued HKD240bn (USD30.8bn) in green bonds across currencies and maturities by June, funding 116 local projects. Hui added that Hong Kong will host its second Green Week next week to further channel global capital into sustainable development. He also announced that the Green and Sustainable Finance Training Scheme, which has approved more than 7,600 applications with HKD42m in funding, will be extended to 2028 to strengthen sector talent.
