Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing (HKEX) Hong Kong trusted global gateway status remains intact, according to chairman Carlson Tong, who addressed the Hong Kong Institute of Directors’ Symposium. Tong emphasised the importance of strong boards in promoting transparency and long-term value, while calling for deeper international connectivity and visionary leadership. He outlined three priorities to sustain competitiveness: reinforcing Hong Kong’s unique role as a gateway to China’s innovation-driven growth, enhancing offerings to attract global capital in alternative investments, and embracing technological innovation to future-proof businesses. “By deepening international ties and adopting forward-thinking governance, we can build resilient institutions and maintain Hong Kong’s position at the forefront of global finance,” Tong said.
