Hana Bank has introduced the Hana Bank gold trust, South Korea’s first real gold investment trust, enabling customers to invest in 24-karat gold with a minimum purchase of 100 grams. Launched on a trial basis at selected Seoul branches, the product will expand to 26 locations in Seoul and Busan later this month. Investors will receive an annual yield of 1.5% of the appraised value, payable in cash or physical gold, with valuations conducted via the Korea Gold Exchange Digital Asset platform. The initiative aims to promote gold circulation and establish the metal as a mainstream investable asset, underscoring its enduring economic importance since the 1997 “gold collecting campaign” during the Asian financial crisis.
