Citi Taiwan investment banking ranked first in market revenue year-to-date as the US bank expanded its role in cross-border financing and mergers and acquisitions involving Taiwanese companies, according to Dealogic data.

Citi said it has raised more than USD12bn for Taiwanese clients this year, including financing through convertible bonds and global depositary receipts, with technology companies accounting for a significant proportion of activity.

Since 2020, the bank has raised nearly USD45bn from global capital markets for Taiwanese clients and advised on mergers and acquisitions with a combined value exceeding USD13bn.

Citi said Taiwanese companies are increasingly expanding internationally and seeking financing to support their growth plans.

The bank is also assisting overseas companies pursuing investment opportunities in Taiwan.

Christie Chang, Citi’s country officer for Taiwan, described the island as a key global market for the banking group as cross-border corporate activity continues to expand.
