Citi Appoints Sophia Wang to Lead China Institutional Sales

Citi China institutional sales will be led by veteran banker Sophia Wang as the US financial group seeks to expand its mainland capital-markets business despite continuing geopolitical tensions.
Wang has been appointed managing director and head of China financial-institutional sales and senior relationship management and will be based in Shanghai, according to an internal staff memo.
She will oversee institutional sales covering rates, spread products, foreign exchange, commodities and equity derivatives.
Wang will also manage strategic relationships with Chinese financial institutions and international clients seeking access to China’s financial markets.
She has more than two decades of international banking experience, including 15 years at Bank of America Merrill Lynch in London.
There, she led fixed-income, currencies and commodities sales to sovereign wealth funds and major Chinese financial institutions across Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
