China International Capital Corp (CICC) and China Galaxy Securities are launching more than USD1bn in new funds across Southeast Asia, marking a significant shift in strategy amid China’s outbound investment push. The CICC Galaxy Southeast Asia funds align with the “China plus N” strategy, as firms respond to rising US tariff pressures and seek regional growth. China Galaxy Securities plans to roll out a USD1bn private equity fund focusing on AI, healthcare, and renewable energy, while CICC Capital will partner with Malaysia’s digital economy agency on a USD100m fund targeting the gaming sector. The CICC Galaxy Southeast Asia funds aim to tap into the region’s expanding investment opportunities and support broader Chinese strategic goals abroad.
