The China Renaissance investment theme could mark the beginning of a new phase for Chinese markets, with Bank of Singapore identifying advanced manufacturing, artificial intelligence and the digital economy as major long-term drivers of returns.

In its 2026 investment outlook, the private bank described "China Renaissance" as one of five structural investment themes expected to shape markets through 2030.

It said higher-value manufacturing and North Asia's central role in global AI supply chains could improve corporate earnings while a stronger yuan may provide an additional investment tailwind.

The bank cautioned that geopolitical tensions, fragmented supply chains and competition for critical resources would remain important risks for investors.

It also expects continued demand for defensive assets including gold, the Singapore dollar and the Swiss franc.

The report suggests that improving industrial competitiveness and technological innovation could gradually restore investor confidence in China's longer-term growth prospects.
