China Private Funds Reach Record USD3.5tr as Alternative Assets Expand

China private funds


China private funds have reached a record RMB23.66tr (USD3.5tr), supported by strong growth in private securities investment funds and renewed activity across venture capital and private equity markets.


According to the Asset Management Association of China, private securities investment funds exceeded RMB8tr (USD1.2tr) for the first time at the end of June, helping the broader industry record its twelfth consecutive monthly asset record.


Assets increased by RMB1.51tr during the first half of 2026, while 2,219 new private funds with combined value of RMB109.16bn were registered during June.


CVSource reported that venture capital and private equity fundraising strengthened significantly as the number of newly established funds doubled during the first half of the year.


Investment activity remained concentrated in semiconductors, artificial intelligence, advanced manufacturing and healthcare, with state-backed investment platforms and corporate investors continuing to drive market expansion.
