Asian Family Offices Take More Institutional Investment Approach, Says Citi

Asian family offices institutional investing is becoming more sophisticated as wealthy families strengthen governance, expand direct investments and involve a broader range of family members, according to Citi Private Bank.

Citi brought together more than 150 family office principals, next-generation leaders and investors in Hong Kong for its annual Asia Pacific Family Office Executive Forum.

Held under the theme “The Intelligence Decade: AI, Capital and the New Asian Order”, the event examined artificial intelligence, capital flows, direct investing, governance, succession planning and philanthropy.

Citi said family offices across Asia are increasingly adopting institutional approaches to both investment management and governance while expanding their direct-investment activities.

Speakers included Brookfield CEO Bruce Flatt, EQT Chair Jean Eric Salata and Kioxia CFO Yoshihiko Kawamura.

Citi also said Hong Kong’s position as an Asian wealth management and family office centre continues to strengthen.
