Asia-Pacific family office sustainable investment exposure is increasing as more wealthy families and asset owners allocate substantial portions of portfolios to impact and environmental, social and governance strategies.

A Sustainable Finance Initiative survey found that 27% of respondents allocated more than half of their assets to impact and ESG investments in 2026, up from 17% in 2025.

The Hong Kong-based organisation surveyed 121 family office representatives and principal asset owners across the region, with 86% reporting some exposure to sustainable investments.

Food and agriculture emerged as the leading investment theme, followed by water, sanitation and hygiene.

Within agriculture, investor interest is moving upstream towards farm productivity, precision agriculture, biological inputs and artificial intelligence-enabled decision tools.

Consumer-facing downstream businesses are meanwhile facing greater valuation pressure as family offices reassess where the strongest risk-adjusted opportunities lie across sustainable food systems.
