Asia Can Stand Out With Stability and Openness, Says Gan

Asia must project stability and openness to succeed in a fragmented world, Singapore Deputy Prime Minister Gan Kim Yong said at the Asia New Vision Forum 2025. Speaking at the Mandai Rainforest Resort, Gan stressed the importance of Asia stability and openness in countering rivalries, protectionism and global risks. He pointed to easing tensions between India and China, and Thailand and Cambodia, as positive signs. Gan called for stronger regional integration under the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), while also deepening collaboration with the EU and GCC. He highlighted digital and green transitions as opportunities, positioning Asia to model “flexible multilateralism” for global cooperation.
