ASEAN Economic Integration 2025 Reaffirmed at Ministerial Meeting

ASEAN economic integration 2025

ASEAN economic integration 2025 was reaffirmed at the 57th ASEAN Economic Ministers’ Meeting, where officials advanced initiatives to boost resilience and trade amid global uncertainty. Ministers highlighted the Digital Economy Framework Agreement, expected to double the bloc’s digital economy to USD2tr by 2030, and an upgraded ASEAN Trade in Goods Agreement due in October 2025, which will address remanufactured goods, environment and trade issues, and supply chain connectivity. The agenda also covered semiconductor supply chains, EV roadmaps, and regional energy cooperation. Despite an 11% global decline in foreign direct investment in 2024, ASEAN inflows rose 8%, underlining investor confidence. The bloc also committed to deepen ties with the U.S., China, CPTPP members, the GCC, and South Korea.
