World’s richest men doubled wealth during pandemic

A report published by Oxfam showed that the world’s 10 wealthiest men doubled their fortunes during the first two years of the global pandemic, even as poverty and inequality around the world soared. The report showed that the 10 richest men’s wealth jumped from USD700bn to USD1.5tr, at an average rate of USD1.3bn per day. In contrast, the pandemic plunged 160 million people into poverty. The report also followed a December 2021 study also by Oxfam, which showed that the share of global wealth of the world’s richest people soared at a record pace during the coronavirus pandemic.
