
Vietnam's overseas investment reached approximately USD316.4m in the first five months of this year, accounting for 93.5% of the corresponding period last year, reports the Foreign Investment Agency under the Ministry of Planning and Investment. Of this total, USD142.7m was allocated to 47 new projects, representing 48.6% compared to the same period in 2022, while USD173.7m was added to 16 ongoing projects, almost quadrupling last year's figures. Vietnamese investors were involved in various sectors abroad, with significant contributions in retail and wholesale, information and communications, finance, banking, and agro-forestry-fisheries. From January to May, Vietnam's investments spanned 20 countries and territories, with Canada leading the way through a new project and an expansion totaling over USD150.2m, followed by Singapore, Laos, and Cuba.
