Police in Hanoi are warning citizens to be wary of unverified Telegram channels and accounts promoting financial investments. The Cybersecurity and Crime Prevention Department found that the @Oxfam108 Telegram channel shared charity information and images from a charity group called Global Star Oxfam, to build credibility with the public. However, the content on the channel did not refer to the Oxfam international organisation or Oxfam Vietnam, and its logo was different from Oxfam's. The @Oxfam108 channel also introduced the SAMEHOME mobile application. To build investor confidence, the channel promoted Gream LTD Company as the host company of the SAMEHOME application, under the management of the US Department of Finance, at the website www.fincen.gov. However, the police warn that the SAMEHOME application is of unknown origin and not published on standard app stores such as CHplay or App store, and therefore may pose potential risks on users' devices.
