Vietnamese banks have emerged as one of the global leaders in digital transformation, according to experts at the Financial Services - Retail Banking Forum in HCM City. Vu Viet Ngoan, former chairman of the National Financial Supervisory Commission, highlighted the rising popularity of digital products in Vietnam, with over 30% of the population using banking apps, ranking second globally after China. Ngoan emphasized the pivotal role of the banking and financial sectors in establishing a fully digitised and customer-centric system. The government aims to achieve financial inclusion for over 80% of the adult population by 2025. To support this vision, Vietnamese banks have invested over VND15tr (USD639.22m) in digital transformation, leading to significant growth in digital payments and non-cash transactions.
