Venture capital giant 500 Global has raised USD143m across its paramount Southeast Asian early-stage fund, 500 Southeast Asia III (500 SEA III), and its growth initiative for the region. The move epitomises the firm’s dedication to nurturing founders in the area from the inception to pre-IPO phases. Key investors encompass Malaysia’s sovereign wealth fund, public and private pension funds such as Khazanah Nasional Bhd, KWAP, and EPF. Moreover, a university endowment fund and prominent global investors’ family offices have joined the bandwagon. 500 SEA III, which had an initial target of USD75m, will primarily channel investments towards AI-enabled tech and sectors like healthcare and sustainable cities across key Southeast Asian nations. In their history, 500 Global has already supported over 340 Southeast Asian enterprises.
