Singapore treasury AI adoption is gaining momentum as finance teams increasingly incorporate artificial intelligence into daily operations, although system integration difficulties and skills shortages remain significant obstacles, according to HSBC.

The bank’s Redefining Treasury in Asia Pacific 2026 report found that 74% of Singapore respondents expect AI to be extremely or very useful within three years, down from 84% in the previous survey.

However, 70% identified system integration as a barrier to adoption, while 59% cited insufficient expertise.

Cybersecurity and technology risks concerned 39%, while 38% highlighted difficulties securing budget approval and stakeholder support.

HSBC Singapore plans to recruit more than 100 AI specialists and establish an AI Centre of Excellence in the city-state to strengthen its technological capabilities.

The findings, based on a survey of 680 treasury and finance professionals across 11 Asia-Pacific markets, highlight the operational challenges facing corporate finance teams as AI becomes increasingly important to treasury management.
