The number of investment applications in Thailand rose by 8.5% in the first nine months of this year from a year earlier, according to data from its Board of Investment (BOI). However, BOI head Narit Therdsteerasukdi said that the overall value went down from 2021 when the country saw several large power-generating projects worth a combined THB150bn. The BOI reported that the value of Thailand’s investment applications in the January-September period dropped 14% from a year earlier to THB439bn, falling from a high base in 2021. The BOI also said that foreign direct investment applications decreased 25% from the year earlier to THB275.6bn. The main source was China, with THB45bn, followed by Taiwan, Japan, the United States, and Hong Kong.
