Thailand’s Commerce Minister Pichai Naripthaphan has invited British businesses to invest in Thailand, highlighting opportunities for a potential UK-Thailand free trade agreement (FTA). Speaking in London, Pichai emphasised the close ties between the nations, which will mark 170 years of diplomatic relations next year. Bilateral trade reached USD6.7bn last year, the highest in five years. The two countries recently signed an Enhanced Trade Partnership (ETP) covering over 20 sectors, including digital trade, agriculture, sustainability, and technology, and committed to exploring a future FTA. Thailand aims to promote trade and investment, positioning itself as a global hub for tourism, medical services, agriculture, and innovation under its "Ignite Thailand" vision. Pichai invited British investors to consider the Eastern Economic Corridor and Land Bridge project.
