Talent shortage hinders Japan's economic sectors: AmCham Japan

The lack of suitable talent is hampering growth in Japan's sectors, including tourism and finance, according to Om Prakash, the president of the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) in Japan. He suggested that structural reforms and efforts to attract diverse talent could boost activity in the capital markets by up to 50%. The scarcity of bilingual staff is particularly stunting the tourism sector's growth, despite an influx of visitors due to a weaker yen. Om Prakash also commented on the yen's impact on various sectors, its potential influence on the Bank of Japan's policy decisions, and the market's expectations of these policies.
