Taiwan Investment Trust Merger to Create USD15.38bn Asset Manager

A major Taiwan investment trust merger involving four state-owned financial groups is expected to create an asset management company overseeing approximately NTD500bn (USD15.38bn).
First Financial Holding, Mega Financial Holding, Taiwan Cooperative Financial Holding and Hua Nan Financial Holdings have approved the consolidation of their investment trust subsidiaries.
The transaction remains subject to regulatory approval and is scheduled to take effect on January 1, 2028.
First Securities Investment Trust will become the surviving company, absorbing three other subsidiaries through a share swap and issuing approximately 59.3 million new shares.
Following completion, the four parent groups will hold stakes of 50.3%, 30.4%, 9.8% and 9.5%, respectively.
The consolidation will bring investment management operations under a single organisation, potentially strengthening operational efficiency and investment capabilities.
For institutional investors and wealthy clients, the merger could create a larger domestic asset manager with a broader platform for investment products and services.
