South Korea and the OECD inaugurated a conference in Seoul to explore advances in financial systems for Southeast Asian nations. This two-day event, organised by South Korea’s Financial Services Commission, tackles issues and opportunities presented by digitalisation in ASEAN financial sectors. The OECD-FSC-KIF Roundtable on Digital Finance in ASEAN aims to facilitate dialogue among financial authorities, regulators, and central bank officials from Asia and OECD countries on the evolution of digital finance globally. FSC Vice Chairman Kim So-young emphasised the dual aspects of digital finance: its potential for sectoral productivity enhancements and the necessity for robust regulatory frameworks to mitigate emerging risks and ensure consumer protection. Kim committed to bolstering collaboration with ASEAN and other international bodies to align with global financial regulatory standards.
