New Singapore fund manager tax breaks and expanded visa support are planned as the city-state seeks to strengthen its asset management industry amid intensifying competition with Hong Kong.
Singapore will introduce tax exemptions covering profits earned by fund managers from managing certain investment vehicles, including single-family-office funds.
The Monetary Authority of Singapore and finance ministry are expected to provide further details in the 2027 budget.
MAS also plans to support hedge funds establishing or expanding operations in Singapore through an investment programme.
Visa arrangements will meanwhile be enhanced by widening access for investment professionals to the five-year Overseas Networks and Expertise Pass, which allows qualifying holders to work for multiple companies.
Singapore's asset management industry has expanded at an average annual rate of 7.5% over the past five years to almost USD5.5tr.
The measures come as Singapore and Hong Kong compete for investment firms, family offices and senior financial professionals serving Asia's growing pools of private and institutional capital.
