Singapore condemns air strikes on Israel, urges restraint

Singapore has condemned recent air attacks on Israel, attributing them to Iran as retaliation for an Israeli strike on Iran’s consulate in Damascus on April 1, as per the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA). These escalating attacks are intensifying tensions in an already volatile region. Iran vowed revenge for the consulate strike, which killed seven Revolutionary Guard officers. Israel has not confirmed its involvement. Singapore is deeply concerned about the Gaza conflict potentially sparking broader regional hostilities and urges all parties to exercise restraint. It advocates for an immediate humanitarian ceasefire, the unconditional release of hostages, and efficient delivery of aid to Gaza’s civilians amid ongoing hostilities that have resulted in significant casualties and displacement.
