Singapore banks commit SGD4m to combat scams, aid community

The Association of Banks in Singapore (ABS) launched a SGD4m (USD2.86m) Community Giveback Programme with 50 member banks including DBS, OCBC, and UOB, marking the first industry-wide collaboration of this kind. The program focuses on social and environmental issues and introduces a new anti-scam campaign. ABS has allocated SGD2m for social efforts, planning to distribute essentials to 10,000 households via 22 pop-up markets, inspired by the DBS Foundation Community Pop-Up Market. Additionally, an extensive anti-scam education campaign will be rolled out, featuring a mascot to promote a "stop and check" habit. The initiative, involving about 6,000 bank staff volunteers, aims to enhance digital safety and support community needs over two years.
