The Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) Wealth Management has officially appointed Rod Ireland as the head of wealth management for Asia. Ireland, who has been serving as the interim regional head since August 2022 following Terence Chow’s departure, initially joined RBC in 1998. His experience with the bank includes leading the Australian business from 2013 and relocating to Asia in 2017 as the head of APAC global markets, a role he will continue alongside his new position. RBC Wealth Management, under Ireland’s leadership, will oversee operations in key Asian markets from its booking centres in Hong Kong and Singapore, a representative office in Beijing, and an operations hub in Malaysia. The firm’s strategic focus spans eight client markets across the region, including Hong Kong, mainland China, Taiwan, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Philippines.
