Policymakers and experts are impressed by Vietnam's economic success story that is closely associated with improved economic freedom. In a conference organised by the European Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (EuroCham) in Hanoi, former German ambassador Christian-Ludwig Weber-Lortsch said he has been impressed with the Vietnamese spirit of competition and their strong will to move forward after the devastation of the war. Rainer Zitelmann, researcher and recognised author on the topic of wealth, said Vietnam has seen one of the most impressive gains in economic freedom among countries with a population of over 30 million around the world since 1995. Zitelmann said Vietnam is the only country where more women (78%) than men (72%) said they want to get rich.
