During the 37th Meeting of the ASEAN Free Trade Area Council in Semarang, Indonesia, the Philippine trade chief, Secretary Alfredo Pascual, urged Southeast Asian ministers to enhance the ASEAN Trade in Goods Agreement (ATIGA). The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) stated that this is a timely opportunity to address regional trade challenges, particularly issues related to preferential market access. Pascual proposed a mechanism to ensure timely resolution of these trade issues. Furthermore, he reaffirmed the Philippine government’s dedication to digitising trade via the National Single Window or TradeNet platform. The DTI confirmed that the Philippines aims to fully issue and accept electronic Certificate of Origin Form D by year-end, in collaboration with the Bureau of Customs and the Department of Finance.
