The Philippines may exit the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) gray list by 2025, according to the Department of Justice (DOJ). DOJ Undersecretary Jesse Andres expressed confidence that the country will be removed from the gray list, citing progress in addressing money laundering and intellectual property rights issues. The Philippines has been on the gray list since 2021 due to deficiencies in its anti-money laundering and terrorism financing controls. Of 18 required outcomes, 15 have been completed. The remaining three, including cross-border measures and casino junkets, are under review by the FATF, with a decision expected in October. The DOJ has been proactive in combating money laundering, particularly in cases linked to intellectual property violations.
