New Malaysian gov't urged to address economic challenges

EMIR Research president and chief executive officer Datuk Rais Hussin Mohamed Ariff has called on Malaysia’s politicians to accept Anwar Ibrahim’s appointment as the country's 10th Prime Minister and urged the new government to start focusing on the people’s problems. He said the government must address economic challenges in the country, especially the expected global slowdown next year. He highlighted major issues in the country such as the cost of living, education system, and the employment situation. Rais also called for structural reforms so that investor confidence will be revived. Touching on the rally in the stock market and ringgit, he said it was a good start but Malaysia needs consistent investment policies to attract investors.
