Malaysia seeks to boost trade pact with Thailand

Malaysian officials are working to further boost economic ties with Thailand to achieve its goal of USD30bn in total bilateral trade, according to reports. Jojie Samuel, Malaysia's ambassador to Thailand, is optimistic that his visit to four southern provinces in Thailand would enhance the bilateral relations and cooperation with the country. He also invited Thai firms and organisations to participate in the Malaysia International Halal Showcase in September. Samuel also urged industry players to strengthen cooperation through more collaboration to enhance the Malaysia-Thailand border trade. Thailand remains Malaysia's sixth-biggest trading partner in the world and the second-largest in ASEAN. Malaysia is Thailand's fourth-largest trading partner.
