Currently the CEO of the Employees Provident Fund, Amir Hamzah's appointment follows the government's efforts to reduce the budget deficit and maintain Malaysia’s strong credit score amid global economic shifts. The cabinet reshuffle expands to 31 ministers, consistent with the size of the previous administration.
