Malaysia is considering the establishment of a regulatory framework for artificial intelligence (AI) to address ethical issues arising from its use, according to Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil. The minister emphasized the need for an expert group to understand potential challenges, including employment impacts. The government also intends to enhance the public’s understanding of AI by encouraging Radio Television Malaysia to produce a show discussing the technology. Fahmi asserted that language development must coincide with tech advances to ensure comprehension across society. The statement follows his assertion that Malaysia requires more data and technology expertise to embrace its digital-first ambitions.
