KKR targets USD2.5bn for second Asia real estate fund

KKR & Co is reportedly in the process of raising its second Asia real estate fund, aiming to secure between USD2bn and USD2.5bn for investments across the region. Sources revealed that the fund has already accumulated approximately USD600m since the end of 2022. KKR aims to conclude the fundraising by late 2024 or early 2025. This new fund will follow a similar investment approach to KKR's inaugural Asia real estate fund, targeting opportunities in markets such as Japan, Australia, and South-east Asia. While the global fundraising landscape currently faces challenges due to economic uncertainties, regions like Japan show promise, with a 52% surge in commercial property investment volume in H1 2023. KKR's first Asia real estate fund raised USD1.7bn in January 2021, investing in notable assets in Seoul and Tokyo.
