Indonesian tech major GoTo cuts another 600 jobs

At least 600 more roles are affected in the most recent layoff implemented by PT Goto Gojek Tokopedia (GoTo) of Indonesia. The biggest tech firm in Indonesia announced the layoff of 600 workers as part of its initiative to streamline the organisation. Reduction of the workforce was also the company's way of boosting its profitability. Last year, the company implemented the first round of layoffs that involved 1,300 workers. The company also said GoTo Financial's merchant business would also be redesigned. In a statement that was released earlier, the company said that the layoffs are aimed at making the company more “agile” and to maintain growth amid challenging global economic conditions.
