Indonesia expects digitalisation to boost regional financial efficiency

Indonesia's President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) believes that digitalising the regional financial transaction ecosystem can bolster effective and efficient regional financial management. This vision was shared by Vice President Ma’ruf Amin during the National Coordination Meeting on 2023 Regional Digitalization Acceleration and Expansion. The president aims for the digital shift to enhance the prosperity of the Indonesian people. Despite global economic uncertainties, Indonesia has seen its national economy grow over 5% for seven consecutive quarters. To progress towards becoming a developed nation, a growth of 6-7% is targeted, achievable through strengthened digital technology. The vice president emphasised the importance of regional leaders in this initiative, noting that digital technology can boost local revenue, transparency, financial accountability, and public services.
