Indonesia calls for greater APEC collaboration


Indonesia has urged Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) members to support multilateral trade systems to combat global economic challenges, according to a statement made by Reza Pahlevi Chairul, the Director of Interregional Negotiations and International Organizations at Indonesia's Trade Ministry, at the APEC's Committee on Trade and Investment meeting. Chairul emphasized the importance of reinforcing the World Trade Organization's (WTO) basic principles and reforms and encouraged APEC members to contribute to discussions leading up to the 13th WTO Ministerial Conference. The meeting also highlighted the need for supporting trade, enhancing interregional connectivity, and fostering digitalization and innovation in the trade sector. Chairul stressed the significance of cooperation, knowledge sharing, and a capacity-building program for realizing economic integration in the region.
