HSBC Holdings Plc’s asset management unit is partnering with the International Finance Corp (IFC) to launch a joint fund supporting corporate bond issuers in emerging markets. The fund will carry the European Union’s strictest sustainability label, Article 9, aiming to attract institutional investors and boost capital for sustainable projects, the firms announced. Nicolas Moreau, HSBC Asset Management CEO, said the collaboration highlights financial opportunities in sustainable funding to bridge financing gaps for emerging market issuers aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The fund will invest in publicly listed bonds from corporate and financial institutions, targeting sustainable technologies and social impact. This initiative builds on HSBC and IFC’s partnership since 2019. Mohamed Gouled, IFC vice president, added that the Article 9 designation ensures issuer sustainability and transparency.
