HSBC Asset Management, part of the London-based HSBC Group, has appointed Michael Cross as the new Chief Investment Officer (CIO) for Asia. The announcement follows the retirement of Cecilia Chan from the investment management industry. Cross, who will be based in Hong Kong, will report to Daisy Ho, CEO for Asia-Pacific and Hong Kong, and Xavier Baraton, Global CIO. He will also continue in his current role as Global CIO for Fixed Income. Cross brings over three decades of experience to this role. He joined HSBC Asset Management in 2015 as the Global Head of Official Sector Institutions and later served as Vice Chair of Institutional Business and Global CIO of Fixed Income. His career also includes tenures at the Bank of England and the International Monetary Fund.
