HSBC has announced the appointment of former Deutsche Bank veteran, Lok Yim, as its Asia Pacific head of global private banking, starting January 1, 2024. Yim, who will assume his role on a designate basis from November 1, will replace Siew Meng Tan, set to retire following a nearly four-decade-long banking career, including seven years at HSBC’s regional business helm. Previously, Yim served as the chief executive of Deutsche Bank Hong Kong, with a notable 16-year stint, where he championed the bank’s wealth management and international private banking sectors in Asia and Emerging Markets. Operating from Hong Kong, Yim’s direct superiors will be Annabel Spring, the bank’s chief executive of global private banking and wealth, and Kai Zhang, the South Asia head of wealth and personal banking.
